NIID - National Information Infrastructure Development Program

A high-quality digital infrastructure is an essential condition for the development of the digital competences of both the digital economy and citizens and businesses, as well as for the spread of public digital services.

Within the framework of the Digital Success Programme, significant progress has been made in the recent period in the development of infrastructure with the implementation of the Superfast Internet Program (SIP). The goal of SIP is that, as a result of large-scale network developments, all Hungarian families will have the opportunity to use the superfast internet service with a speed of at least 30 Mbit/s. The development of the Internet network used by the state, local governments and the public administration, the National Telecommunications Backbone Network, is also progressing at a rapid pace. Through this, local governments and state bodies can provide modern e-government services. All these developments are completed by the National Information Infrastructure Development Program, which provides an integrated national network infrastructure and services for the entire Hungarian research, education, and public collection institutional system. NIID provides more than 5,500 member institutions and more than 2 million users with a virtually complete range of e-Infrastructure components for advanced services and applications.
