PCDS- Public Collection Digitization Strategy

The aim of the Public Collection Digitization Strategy (PCDS) is to ensure the widest possible, unhindered access of our national cultural treasures and public collection content to cultural consumers.

In the field of digitization of public collections, the digitization of existing collections should be complemented by digitization for publication purposes, taking into account user perspectives, so that public collections can improve access to their collections in both qualitative and quantitative terms.

In the first phase of the implementation of the strategy, by 2020, the digitized stock of public collections should approach 50% of the total stock to be digitized. In addition, the objective is to make digital content available on a common search interface and to increase the number of digital learning materials based on public collection content by 40% in line with Digital Education Strategy of Hungary. In the second phase of implementation, by 2025, the goal is to complete the content service of audio-visual archives and to operate the Internet archiving service with the scope of the Carpathian Basin.
