Artificial Intelligence Coalition

The Hungarian Artificial Intelligence Coalition (AI Coalition), initiated by Dr. Palkovics László the Minister for Innovation and Technology, aims to put Hungary at the forefront of artificial intelligence developments and applications in Europe and to become an important member of the international AI community. The AI Coalition is operated by the Digital Success Programme (DSP).

The rapid technological development associated with digitalisation enables Hungary to be at the forefront of a well-chosen area; in addition to developments related to autonomous vehicles and 5G mobile technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI) can also be such an area for Hungary.

The founders of the AI Coalition intend to jointly define the directions and framework for the development of artificial intelligence in Hungary, providing a permanent professional and cooperation forum for AI developers, market and state actors representing the user side of AI, as well as academia, professional organisations and public institutions. The AI Coalition also participates in the development of Hungary's AI Strategy and in the analysis of the social and economic impacts related to the spread of AI. The formation of the AI Coalition is a clear message to the world: Hungary has opened its doors to AI developments.

The AI Coalition aims to:

  • Hungary should be at the forefront of AI developments in Europe as soon as possible, thus making Hungary an important reference point for the international AI community;
  • to significantly strengthen the competitiveness of domestic enterprises due to the widespread use and application of AI-based developments;
  • Hungarian startups and SMEs should participate in a large proportion of AI developments, whether in large corporate, university or international partnerships;
  • The state should play its part in the development of Hungarian society and the national economy through the judicious use of national data assets, as well as all actors in the digital ecosystem through the fair, regulated and efficient utilization of data assets and as users of AI solutions.

The Hungarian AI Coalition was formed on October 9, 2018 with the participation of 78 international and domestic companies, as well as universities, scientific workshops, professional and administrative organisations. The AI Coalition has 260 member organisations.
